City Lickers invites you to escape for a women’s only weekend at gorgeous Peregian Beach on the Sunshine Coast. Peregian Beach is a quiet little beach town with a relaxed coastal lifestyle about 13 km south of Noosa but from October 17-19 it will once again come to life as the host of the Big Lesbian Beach Escape. This three day weekend has been planned for all lesbians, of all ages and of all styles; this weekend has been planned for you.

The main hub of our beach escape will be gay owned Horizons at Peregian; Horizons has the perfect beachside location and has been totally booked out as a City Lickers’ resort for the weekend so that we can feel totally comfortable.

On Friday night we will kick start the weekend with a BYO Hawaiian Pool Party! Dress up... wear your sarong, lei, coconuts, flowers... but have fun with it because this weekend is all about laughter, lesbians & lifestyle. And there’s a good chance you’ll decide to be in the pool by the end of the night. Holly Kercheval will be our live entertainment followed by a jukebox with microphone for our ‘would be‘ stars. Hot savouries will be provided as well as two Frozen Cocktail Machines for only $2 per drink.

On Saturday morning you can sleep in or better still come down to the beach where you can join our health conscious for a refreshing session of yoga, catch a wave with our surfers or simply take in the sun, the sand and the surf.

For singles, we have a singles only brunch planned for you so that you have the opportunity to meet new friends and other singles to share the weekend with.

At lunch we’ll move to the park for a fully catered barbecue; a great chance for our local and out of town women to get to know each other. Make sure you bring your swimmers and towel and have a crack out our super slip 'n' slide race off!

In the afternoon get ready for our social Beach Volleyball Competition. Enter your own team of 8 women, or let us place you in a team, and get set to compete for the coveted City Lickers’ Trophy Cup. Take on the winners of the last 2 years - the Sandwedges - who are likely to be back to defend the title. Both the beach and the park are directly across the road from Horizons.

Saturday night the fun continues with the Lesbian Super Group who will entertain us with their quirky covers before our Dance Party with crowd favourite DJ Lorna begins at the Peregian Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. Cheap drinks, finger food, great music and a venue full of women will only add to the highlights of this fantastic night.

Sunday is our recovery day with no set activities - sleep in, relax by the pool, enjoy a day on the beach or visit the first annual Sunshine Coast Pride Fair - but don’t rush home, after all how often do you get to escape with this many women!

A short 5 minute drive north of Horizons. Glen Eden's absolute beach front position is peacefully situated behind the dunes at Peregian Beach. Features: Beachfront location, heated swimming pool, hot Spa, steamy sauna, extensive gardens/lawns and barbecues.

A short 5 minute drive north of Horizons. Set in tropical gardens, the clean spacious, low rise townhouses provide a very comfortable base from which you can explore the coast and its many attractions. A short drive from Horizons. Located adjacent to the Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club as well as cafes, mini-market and bottle shop.

Who Will Entertain Us?

Holly Kercheval

Holly Kercheval’s music and lyrics are deeply emotive with a strong focus on humanity and her raw, life experiences. These are Holly’s palette and she delights in evoking the emotive with her alternate self-taught style. Holly captivates her audience with her inspiring earthy tunes and funky rhythms.

Her 1st EP, titled 'Radiate', contains the track 'Feel Like This', which won her a finalist position in the Annual Byron Bay Dolphin Awards.

Holly has busked from festivals to footpaths up and down the coasts of Australia.

Holly regularly supports youth and community events, including events such as Tropical Alternatives Queer Film Festival. She is now performing tracks from her EP at GLBT events around the Sunshine Coast, including Crush and Scarlet.

Lesbian Super Group (LSG)

In one lightning year Mel, Sue, Shiv & Ruth have been solving musical mysteries everywhere from GirlFest to Gatton.

The rule of the troupe is to have a laugh, leaving behind elements of their solo musical journeys to bust apart gangs of hits and favourites that we all know and love.

Usual reactions to the awesome foursome are shock and awe however sightings of LSG have also know to send people into spontaneous dance and/or nonharmonious singing.

They strive for musical justice and the lesbian way!

DJ Lorna

Dj Lorna has been involved in the gay night club industry for 9 years now and has been djing for 5 years. She took her lead from one of Brisbane's best female DJs, Dj Angie and is still in awe of her successful longevity and experience in the industry.

Lorna is resident Dj at Scarlet Live Venue & Night Club and has also played at events and venues such as Pride Fair Day, LezVegas, The Birdcage, The L-Bar, Options Night Club, The Alliance Tavern, The Wake, Censored and Rockafellas.

She started her cd collection with only 2 cd singles, both of which she still carries with her. Djing has becoming a lifelong passion for Lorna and she craves to see people enjoying themselves and the music that she turns out for them. She is always happy to hear people's requests, as she believes that this helps to learn what the people on the night really want to hear, and that is the whole point of it, according to her.

Lorna's favourite genre is mainstream commercial dance, but if it's R 'n' B, Retro, Country, E-Trance or Old School, she'll always be able to fine it somewhere in her crates. She sometimes calls herself the music chef, because she believes that the ear is like the palate, and sooo many people have different tastes that it's a great challenge to try to keep everybody happy.
