SCARLET CELEBRATES 4TH BIRTHDAY IN UNIFORM

Lesbian venues in Brisbane come and go, but Scarlet will celebrate it's 4th birthday this month with a huge birthday bash and uniform night at St Pauls on Leichhardt, Spring Hill, on July 31.
 
"The past 4 years have been an awesome journey with the support of the lesbian community and a fantastic line up of performers. We have seen so many positive changes to Scarlet over this time, including the consistency of large numbers and the success and changing face of 3 great spaces within the venue. With more changes yet to come, we are excited coming into the start of our 5th year for the future of Queensland's largest lesbian club." said Monique Forrest, co-ordinator of City Lickers, which runs the venue.
 
The theme for the birthday bash is 'uniform night'. Entertainment includes karaoke, hula hoop performance, pole dancing, juggling contortionist performance, Kristy Apps, Leah Tharlai, resident DJ Lorna and guest DJ Stray. Plus huge prize giveaways with EVERYONE receiving a birthday gift.

Tickets are on sale now for $15 pre-paid or $20 at the door.

Here is a schedule of our night for you; this way if you love live entertainment you will know what time to arrive so you don’t miss out and if dancing is more your thing you can come a little later and move straight to the floor.

8.30pm
Doors Open Scarlet opens her doors at 8.30pm. Upstairs is exclusively Women Only from 8.30pm. Downstairs is exclusively Women Only from 9.30pm.

Born with music in her blood and with a voice of an angel. Leah has been singing and performing since a young child at every level. A comsumate professional who knows how to please a crowd and along with her congas will have crowd audience dancing or tapping their feet.

DJ Stray

Bringing an energy and presence to the stage like no other, DJ Stray fills dance floors and keeps them jumping all night long. Stray believes the most important aspect in a good set is the ability to take the listener into a different dimension. Music is to be used as a way to escape the everyday world, and to allow it to take your mind off of the daily aspects of life.

DJ Lorna

Dj Lorna has been involved in the gay night club industry now for over 10 years, and has been djing for the majority of that time.
 
She took her lead from one of Australia's first female dj's, Dj Angie, and is still in awe of her experience, longevity and success in a previously male dominated industry.  Well isn't that changing!!!
 
Lorna is the resident Dj at Scarlet Live Venue & Night Club and has also played at events and venues such as Pride Fair Day, LezVegas, The Birdcage, The L-Bar, Options Night Club, The Alliance Tavern, The Dungeon Bar, The Wake, Censored and Rockafellas, just to name a few.
 
Lorna started her cd collection with only two cds, which she still carries with her for luck.  She then upgraded to a shoe box and now has trouble carting in the music that she believes is required to successfully cater to such a vast and varied audience, such as the Scarlet crowd.
 
DJing has becoming a lifelong passion for Lorna and she craves to see people enjoying themselves, and the music that she turns out for them. She is always happy to hear people's requests, as she believes that this helps to learn what the people on the night really want to hear, and that is the whole point of it, according to her.
 
Lorna's favourite genre to play is main stream commercial but she loves to break free occassionally and play those deep and dirty mixes that we all love to grind to, at the end of a night.  She definitely loves to make sure that the R'n'B crowd is definitely catered for earlier and has never shied away from playing some of the good ol' fashioned favourites to get the crowd jumping.
 
Lorna's best feature is that she plays for the crowd and not just to them, so always feel free to let her know what you would love to hear, because the chances are, she probably has it!!!!
